The two grocery stores on the island close at 6:00 on Monday to Saturday and at 5:00 on Sundays. There is a liquor store and banking machine at the Trading Post. There is a bakery, book store and many gift and craft stores also. The gas station has a good selection of videos. During the summer months, local produce and crafts are available at 10:00am at the Saturday market located next the Agricultural Hall in the town centre.

Dinner Bay Park, Dinner Bay and The Japanese Gardens are within walking distance from the cottage. The park has a playground for children, putting green, volley ball net, baseball diamond, beach for exploring, walking trails around the park and the Japanese Gardens, barbeque pits and picnic area.
